The Sacraments
Visible signs of God's invisible grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church.

Baptism
Baptism is the sacrament of new life in Christ. Through water and the Holy Spirit, we are freed from sin and become children of God and members of the Church. It is the basis of the whole Christian life.
What Happens in Baptism?
Cleansing
We are cleansed from original sin.
New Life
We receive new life in Christ.
Holy Spirit
We are sealed with the Spirit.
Church
We become members of the Church.
From the Catechism
"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments." (CCC 1213)
